Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven from plant-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft to the touch and excellent for temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh are made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-weaving each strand by Iranian nomads, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their superior durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created from the imagination of the nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
