Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch hair. Gabbeh rugs, with this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling. And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be used not only on the floor but also as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For気になる汚れ: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
