Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs are made from this wool, dyed with natural dyes, and carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, making them wonderfully plush and comfortable to the touch. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme day-to-night temperature differences, is warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup. And then there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it beforehand.
