Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs with long piles, dyed with natural plant dyes, and created by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variat wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains abundant oils that make it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dust and debris along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

If requested, the pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
