Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in nomadic life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Gabbeh rugs, when tightly woven, are highly durable and are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
