Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to the high oil content that allows for good temperature regulation. Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, with this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feeling. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two alike; each is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
