Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture, rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
