Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-weaving each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from climates with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
