Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile carpets deeply rooted in daily life, made from wool dyed with natural plant extracts. The Persian variant wool used in this product, sourced from sheep that endure the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and contains a high fat content, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that effectively regulates body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinct odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
