Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh is a type of long-pile rug woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.

Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.

A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.

Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.

For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.

Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.

The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.

Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
