Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, handwoven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh are made by Iranian nomads who carefully handweave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, resulting in a soft and pleasant feel.
Tightly woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads are imaginative, often featuring designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be placed on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven products.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
