Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads, who herd in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile, utilitarian rugs. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbehs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel, as they are hand-woven, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbehs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon shipment
The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your order to be shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
