Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in lanolin, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps with thermoregulation. This wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh hand-woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously knot by knot, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. Gabbeh that are tightly woven are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
