Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
