Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from vegetable-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability. Gabbehs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique original. They can, of course, be used on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
