Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

If requested, we can remove the pom-poms from the corners or middle of the Gabbeh before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
