Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers contain a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads one strand at a time using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the harsh temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a cool feeling.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed before shipping if requested.
The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the tassels removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us by email or phone below.
