Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains abundant natural oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They are beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall, not just on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
