Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot. And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time. Why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For気になる場合:Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
