Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
If you request, we can deliver the Gabbeh with the pom-poms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your order to be shipped without pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
