Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They hand-weave these rugs using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature. The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on walls. Why not find a special Gabbeh just for you, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dye used on the wool may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
