Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possessing excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their soft and plush texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
