Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long pile and wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one thread at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh rug is said to last 100 years, boasting outstanding durability. Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animals and plants, making each Gabbeh a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
