Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
