Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are dyed with natural plant dyes and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, testament to its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For気になる場合:Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
