Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles and wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses superior durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high oil content for excellent thermoregulation. The Gabbeh, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
