Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a high oil content that helps regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
