Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are crafted using vegetable-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their soft and pleasant texture, resulting from the careful hand-weaving of each strand by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, sweeping in the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
