Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that possess superior durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture containing ample natural oils for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable, not feeling hot, in summer.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, meticulously wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
