Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content that helps regulate body temperature. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
