Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one thread at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. Furthermore, their artistry is unparalleled. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They are perfect for laying on the floor, and beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap of the rug. For stubborn stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
