Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their way of life. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and has a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, resulting in a plush and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And of course, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
