Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps with temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, each one an original unique piece.
They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be some distortion in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed for shipping
If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
