Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these characteristics as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please understand that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
