Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically traverse the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These long-piled rugs, made from plant-dyed wool, are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils for temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-to-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being exactly alike, making each one an original, unique item.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
