Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Strongly woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and breathable in summer, making it feel cool. And above all, its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as uneven weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request
