Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, naturally dyed wool rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, one thread at a time, by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a feeling of coolness.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
