Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who graze the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature effectively. These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, one knot at a time, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If it becomes dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present. Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
