Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oil, which helps with body temperature regulation.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and then meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are fluffy and have a comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs are tightly woven and boast superior durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique original with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
