Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
