Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with plenty of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and the Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the harsh temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, or uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
Please be aware that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
