Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, which helps with body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, and are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dyes may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
