Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and hand-weave each strand carefully, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Gabbeh, born from the harsh climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also suitable for hanging on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
