Characteristics of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, which effectively regulates body temperature. Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
