Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, plant-dyed wool carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, allowing for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present. Please note that this scent will gradually dissipate with use.
