Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh, woven by hand by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
