Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oils to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
