Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to the high fat content that helps in regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Strongly woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
