Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, allowing for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are designed to be enjoyed for a long time. Why not find a special Gabbeh that is uniquely yours?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth until nearly dry, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed upon shipment
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms to be removed upon shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
