Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective thermoregulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They are suitable not only for covering floors but also for adorning walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
